500多年前，德國人谷騰堡（1397—1468）用鉛合金鑄製活字，改良繪畫用的油彩配方為印刷用的油墨，又參考釀酒業螺旋式壓搾葡萄的機器，發明木製印刷機。這套標準化、產業化的活字印刷術，徹底改變了歐洲知識傳播的方法，為人類歷史帶來翻天覆地的改變。
儘然活字印藝已成為 非物質文化遺產，在今天的活字館，你我仍能成為谷騰堡的學徒！在這次初階工作坊裏，參加者將認識活版印藝的基本知識，如字粒結構、字架排列、檢字和鎖版技巧等，再用Adana手搖活版印刷機，印製屬於自己的圖文作品，探索傳統印藝轉化為當代創作的可能性。聖誕將至，你更可加入節日元素，印製充滿聖誕氣氛的心意卡送給摯友！若你喜歡實體紙品，若你想學習排印技術，萬勿錯過.ᐟ.ᐟ

Over 500 years ago, the German inventor Johannes Gutenberg (1397–1468) created movable type using lead alloys, refined the ingredient of oil painting for printing ink, and drew inspiration from the spiral presses used in winemaking to invent the wooden printing press. This standardized and industrialized movable type printing method fundamentally transformed the way knowledge was disseminated in Europe, bringing about monumental changes in human history.
Today, while movable type printing is recognised as an intangible cultural heritage, you can still become one of Gutenberg's apprentices at Open Press! In this beginner workshop, participants will learn the basics of letterpress printing, including the structure of movable type, type case arrangement, and typesetting techniques. You will use an Adana Letterpress Printing Machine to print your own works, exploring the artistic possibilities of this traditional craftsmanship. With Christmas approaching, you can add a festive touch by printing heartfelt cards filled with the spirit of the season to give to your loved ones!
